Am Tag - im Museum | Daytime - from the inside

Daytime - from the inside

In the day time, during the regular opening hours, the building presents oneself as art hall proper: The collection covers a wide range of themes from the presence over the sixties back to the early 20th century. Painting, graphic, sculpture, light and object art of artists with a national and international relevance are shown.

One of the highlights of the museum is the air well especially designed for Celle by the ZERO-artist Otto Piene. The building has a considerable collection of „Multiples“ of Joseph Beuys. Furthermore the following prominent artists are represented in this collection: among others Dieter Krieg, Timm Ulrichs, Ben Willikens, Ralph Fleck, Professors and alumni of the excellent Art College of Lower Saxony in Brunswick.
The sometimes amusingly, sometimes disturbingly absurd sceneries in the show cases of Peter Basseler are a real discovery for visitors and experts. This artist is presented as extensive nowhere as in Celle. Another important focus of the collection is the special area of „Bilder der Moderne“ [pictures of the modern age]: A voluminous bundle of drawings and paintings of Grethe Jürgens and Erich Wegner, completed by works of their instructor Fritz Burger-Mühlfeld, offers insights into the early works of two prominent representatives of the New Objectivity in the Hanover of the Twenties.
